Bioidentical T4/T3

We compound bioidentical T3 (liothyronine) and T4 (levothyroxine) in customized, specific ratios to meet your unique requirements. Compounded T4/T3 formulations offer alternatives to commercially available thyroid medications, as well as the benefit of being made without fillers such as cornstarch, lactose and gluten. Additionally, they do not increase autoimmunity.

Internationally acclaimed thyroid specialist Dr. Izabella Wentz advises that many commercially available thyroid medications contain fillers which can be problematic for hypothyroid patients. Studies have shown that lactose and gluten affect absorption of thyroid hormone in many patients with Hashimoto's, IBS, and celiac disease.

Dr. Wentz emphasizes that “not all compounding pharmacies are created equally”. Since T4/T3 medications are dosed in micrograms (that’s 1/1000 of a milligram), there is a lot of room for error. Thus, it is essential that pharmacists with specialized training prepare dilutions to ensure precision and accuracy. Natural Desiccated Thyroid

Our Natural Desiccated (Glandular) Porcine Powder, USP, has the T4/T3 ratio that is recognized as the standard for natural thyroid replacement therapy.

Compounded thyroid capsules are available in customizable doses ranging from less than ¼ grain (15mg) to more than 5 grain (300mg). We use microcrystalline cellulose as the capsule filler, as it is the preferred method for compounded natural thyroid and is known to have enhanced absorption characteristics. Dye-free formulations are available, and we also have vegetarian capsules for those who prefer to avoid gelatin.

Capsules can be compounded in both immediate- and slow-release dosage forms. Allowing thyroid hormone to be released gradually throughout the day may provide better results and improve quality of life for some people; however, slow-release formulations may not be absorbed properly by patients with Hashimoto’s and gut issues.
